Market back in May

The last Saturday of every month our little town has a market, where crafts and food are sold by the people who live in the town. Although people put up stalls to sell their wares, it is mostly a place where the locals come to say hello to people they might not have seen in the two or three shops in town.

I chose to take part in this particular market because it was held in the evening.
The weather was very pleasant although it was the start of our winter. Notice the green lawn there on the right hand side of the top photo. By end of winter it won't look too different.

My table for the evening.

Some of the cards and embellished envelopes, each in a cellophane pocket,
and a booklet for writing notes. I know... who actually write notes nowadays. There are many people in our little town who does not even own a computer. Plus I suspect there are others who, like me, still prefer pen and paper to the buttons, screens and pixels on the digital devises. :)

End of the year cards 2015

Card one, was for a young guy who started work, in January of 2015, after his studying to become a veterinarian. His main job has to do with cattle, the natural choice - something to do with cattle. This is what I came up with.

A dear lady, got a few flowers

And this guy, finished his Masters Degree in Music. Pipe organ was one of his majors. Allow me to share this about him too. Simultaneously he did an Honors Degree in German. This year he continued his studies and is doing a Doctorate in Music and Masters in German.

Purple journal

Admitting this is not the most imaginable title for a post, for want of a better title ... this will have to do. And the photographs. Well, terrible I know, this was at night in a very dark place. And you will remember I do not know how to take photo's and I am trying to be as real as possible.

A bit on the thick side, it has 10 signatures.
I do not know if there is a name for the method of binding I did, but I'll tell you exactly what I did. I sew the signatures together, thereafter I wound string around the spine of the cover and slid the signatures in.

I really like how it all came together.

The decoration at the back: The circle is a pottery button with pink flowers and green leaves.
Purple chipboard tag, a teapot and an antelope charm, plus some beads dangling below.

This journal I made for myself, the negatives to share with you is:
1. The decoration at the back caused to book to never lie flat.
2. And it is just too thick.

In future I'll change that.

What is it you are looking out for when in search of a new journal?
